January 30, 2010

Just wanted family members to know that Trevor Tipton and I have met and are coming up with a plan to update the Smith Genealogy Booklet. I have a family page template listed on the blog. If you need more copies of the form you can come here and download the page, it is a PDF format.

If you know of family members that have moved, please email me their new address!
I will be mailing out the George W Smith family page template who doesn't have email. If you have already sent me your family updates. Thank-you!!

Also another reminder that recipes for the cookbook should be sent to me and I will have the cookbook available as a link on the blog by April 1st, so you can download it.

Betty Winebrenner

We just learned last week that Lenora V "Betty" Winebrenner passed away on January 11, 2010. She resided at the Avalon Village in Ligonier, Indiana.
Survivors are Sanger and Janet Reed of Granger, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband Hugh had preceded her in death on December 9, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.

We have a Famous Writer in our Family!!!

I received this email from Donna Berkes this past week. I contacted her and asked if I could post this article on the Smith blog. Below is the article------

Some of you know this, others don't. When I returned home from NY, I sent an e-mail about my day. I assume recipents sent it to their friends, etc. Anyway in Sept 2002 the Smithsonian contacted me as asked if they could post it in their Stories of Survival for the anniversary. I said 'of course'. The next year I published it in our Arizona Paralegal Assn newsletter. Later I was contacted by the Library of Congress who asked if they could archive it in their catalog of 9-11 stories. Who ever thought I would be in the Library of Congress. If you are not able to open the article by clicking, you may copy it and put it in your web search box. Or you may Goggle my name, Donna R. Berkes(be sure to include the 'R' or it will not come up).
